Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find Laker's close to Saskatoon?

I have never fished for them before...I really want to catch one this winter...

Any trade secrets on what to use for hooks or bait? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,

shawno 8)

Lac Eau Claire(Northwest of P.A.) is also an option(if the roads are open in winter)

It is not a big lake maybe 4 km long by 1 km wide.
If the roads are plowed there shouldn't be any problems getting in there.
Caught a few lakers there this spring including this one:

Never fished the lake in winter.
When you go make sure you post a report.
Good Luck!

Hey guys, Lakers will be all over the water column right now, don't be scard to fish shallow over deep water. I like to start off jigging spoons to see if anything is around and to bring fish in, White tubes and bucktail jigs with large minnows or sucker belly works very well, I would start off from the bottom work your way up be agressive with your jigging, move from hole to hole. When you find them the action can be awesome and make sure you give a good hook set lots of Lakers are lost at the hole they have very tough mouths. And let us know how you do :D

Thanks NM...

That is great advice for a novice Lake Trout fisherman...

I so excited about going, but my usual fishing buddy will be unavailable until late Feb. Is anyone interested in heading to Lac Eau Claire with me?

If you are: you can email me at shawnolson@gmail.com

Let me know,

shawno

I haven't had a chance to get out there yet...I have been working too much as well!!

In saying that I have been out once, about two weeks ago now, to Blackstrap and I did okay.

But I am really pumped about going for Lake Trout!! :)

I definitely will let you know how I do...
