well another season has started for these guys. muzzle loader has started and rifle wont be long. should be a good year the numbers and and few nice bucks have been spotted already. just hopefully the weather co-operates this year. the farmers would hate me for saying this but i hope its -20 with a foot of snow. the farmers have got it rough around our neck of the woods this year. well hope everyone has a good season and will post at end of november with hopefully a monster but we'll see. good luck

09 deer season jay big guy with the 2 guys that shot it then the hunting guys with the heads a couple guys were missing but oh well and a big guy that was found dead by a farmer while fencing along a highway. looks like it was late summer or so the horns are kinda faded but not bad at all, maybe vehicle collision or poacher not sure and will never know.

No shoulder mount though?

Good to hear. Would be a shame not to have a shoulder mount done.

For sure. this year was hard though with out the snow on the ground. alot of deer moving though i passed up some nice bucks a few 4 pointers and some 5. seen 1 with something hanging from the horn very well could have been a droptine not to sure, as it was a little too dark still in the morning. missed a very impressive 1. it was last evening and i already had my meat but i was trophy hunting. at what i figured was 300 yrds i could see the horns on the head so i went through the ditch and looked. i started counting points and it had forsure 6 on the one side and then he looked right at me and he was about 4 inches outside the ears. really nice buck. so i put the crosshairs of the 30-06 on the back and pulled the trigger. thinking it would hit him 6 inches below the back. boom the buck spun around and looked at me. so i reloaded, boom. then the doe and fawn took off and the buck behind. reloaded and boom again. then at this point the buck put it in high gear and boom kept on running. i didnt have a range finder so when i went on google earth i looked at it and it would have been around 450 ish maybe a bit further so that would have braught my bullet down about 50" which were all clean misses. oh well maybe better luck next year. at least hopefully he has an even more impressive rack and then i can maybe top my brothers cause something has to shut him up. lol i know if i was to shoot 1 that big i would rub it in to him so i guess i gotta take it. anyone else go out hunting this year. i have seen wardens like crazy this year. a chopper was seen at least every 2nd day maybe everyday . it was black with a big spotlight on the front. he would cruise over u and then slow down and almost hover then slowly take off. looking for poachers i guess.
