Have not caught one this size for a while at Reed. Maybe this year.

The plan was to head up to Reed May 28th, but if the ice is out early we may have to change our plans. I am guessing that the ice will be out by May 1st this year. If that happens, by May 28th most of the trout will be going deep and spread out. Too much of a hassle to troll with 4 guys in my boat. Wife's brother has a cabin at Wallace Lake so we may use that as a base camp and check out some of the lakes in the area.

In the early 2000's there was one year where we got over 100 cm of snow between Easter and somewhere around May7th (Thompson Area). I am hoping for a similar year for you, especially now that I live in Winnipeg. 4 feet of snow on the ice is the only hope to still have ice on Reed late into May.

Looks like ice out just might be early but not sure 1st week of May, weather has cooled again and getting colder we will be making ice the next couple days, wait and see what mother nature does, but im hoping for early ice out :) and the snow can stay away :)
