We made our annual trip up to Reed lake a few weeks earlier that usual. We headed up August 25th and made it back home on Sept 3rd. By going up earlier we were able to stay right at the campground on Reed, rather than having to travel back and forth each day from Iskwasum. Dave and a friend of his stumbled across our motley crew one evening when he was looking for someone else. It had been years since the last time our paths had crossed. It was good to see him again.

It was a breezy week of fishing to say the least; and the fishing for the big northerns was slow. We only landed 9 or 10 over 40 inches for 7 guys. Most years we have one or two guys who land that many all by themselves. Big fish of the trip was caught by my brother....a 46 1/4 inch gator that he caught on a little # 5 Mepps spinner and an open face spinning rod and reel. He likes to give the rest of us a hard time every time he catches a nice fish on his Mepps.

I always enjoy your trip reports. Sorry the wind sucked. Gives you something to look forward to next year.

Nice fish!
