Visited Mid 2 days ago. Only about a foot of open water along the shore. The recent cold snap put ice out to a complete stop. I will be shocked if paint is clear enough to boat by opening day this
Saturday.

Can anyone comment on Clearwater? Heading that way for some camping this Friday. I'm wondering if the ice has cleared out enough to take my 17' bowrider to jig for lake trout.

Sunday, May 17th 3:00PM - Just got back to Thompson coming from Clearwater:

Clearwater, Reed, Wekusko - Strong winds have broken up the ice and pushed it to the south shores, won't be long now.

Barbe, Simonhouse, Iskwasum - Wide open. Water is very high on Barbe making shore fishing difficult.

Mid - still lots of ice but there is plenty of room to cast from shore or paddle a kayak. Lots of tiny browns stocked last October.

Thx for the update, 3 more days and off to Reed to set up camp for the summer then two weeks of fishing! Are you sure they stocked Browns in Mid? That would be exciting if they did! I guess the wind blew the ice to the shores on Reed so can't launch boats now couple more days and she should be clear

http://www.gov.mb.ca/waterstewardship/fish/pdf/stock2014.pdf

15,000 browns into mid, October 1st 2014. I was told they had been planning to stock browns for several years and only now finally did it.

Might be up your way soon. Planning a motorcycle trip for next week but the long range forecast for the Black Hills is not looking good. Plan B is head up to Reed if the forecast
doesn't improve. Can't lose either way 8)
